We take great pride in employing only fully certified Pilates instructors, each having completed a rigorous training program with a minimum of 450 apprenticeship hours from a reputable Pilates school. This ensures that every instructor at Spark Pilates brings a deep understanding of Joseph's method, helping you progress safely and effectively.

Due to a past injury, I was told to try Pilates and tried a modern Reformer group fitness class "inspired by" Pilates. Now my injury is worse!

Why should I trust Spark Pilates?

Unfortunately, the Pilates industry is largely unregulated, and with its increasing popularity, many studios use the name "Pilates" without adhering to set guidelines or employing qualified instructors who follow the original method. This has led to the rise of spin-off classes like Hot Pilates, Yogalates, and modern Reformer-based group fitness classes, which often do not align with Joseph Pilates' principles.

At Spark Pilates, we are committed to teaching authentic Classical Pilates, as Joseph Pilates intended. Our fully certified instructors utilize traditional apparatuses specifically designed to help correct imbalances, prevent injuries, and promote healing.

While modern equipment may be used in other studios, it does not replicate the unique tension and dimensions of the original apparatus, which are integral to the method’s effectiveness. At Spark, we focus on personalized, precise instruction, ensuring that each movement is tailored to your body and individual needs, particularly for clients recovering from injury.

You can trust Spark Pilates for a safe, effective, and authentic Pilates experience that supports your long-term recovery and wellness.

Does Spark Pilates offer a Teacher Training Program?

Spark Pilates is a proud partner and host studio of Authentic Pilates Canada (APC), offering the APC +600hr Apprenticeship Education and Bridge Program.

Led by Cara Hazelton, the program includes in-studio seminars at Spark Pilates. Apprentices may also access the studio as needed to complete their apprenticeship requirements for an additional fee.

It seem like the Pilates Industry is geared towards females, do men also do Pilates?

YES! Joseph Pilates was a wrestler, boxer, and physical trainer who developed his method of Contrology to build resilient, balanced bodies through intentional movement. Rooted in discipline and inspired by athleticism, his system was designed for everyone, and yes, that includes men.

Contrology emphasizes strength, flexibility, alignment, and breathwork, all working together to restore the body, enhance functional movement, and develop true physical control. It is not about trends. It is about longevity, precision, and moving with purpose.

At Spark Pilates, we proudly welcome men into our studio to experience the method as Joseph Pilates intended it, grounded in breath, control, and lifelong vitality. It's more than the exercises, it is a philosophy and lifestyle!
